Maru (丸) in Japanese means circle. This issue explored the relationship between Greek-owned shipping and the Japanese shipbuilding industry, emphasizing how it evolved into a successful cycle of cooperation, trust, and mutual support.
In the mid-20th century, Greek overseas shipping experienced rapid growth, driving the need for fleet modernization and the construction of new ships. Japan, with its strategic focus on developing its shipbuilding industry, became the natural partner for Greek-owned shipping. This partnership marked the beginning of a 70-year legacy of Greek shipbuilding in the Land of the Rising Sun.
The issue’s identity prominently featured white and red, reflecting the colors of the Japanese flag.
